01Generic tools don't know your business.
ChatGPT and Copilot are clever generalists. They don't know who your top 50 accounts are, which SKU ships from which warehouse, or that Tuesday invoices always route through Janet. Context lives in your systems. A working agent has to live there too.
02They don't act on your data.
A suggestion in a chat window is not a finished task. Real work means reading the email, pulling the record, drafting the reply, updating the CRM, and logging the outcome autonomously, under policy. Chatbots suggest. Agents do.
03They require someone to sit and prompt them.
Every minute your team spends coaxing a tool through a task is a minute it isn't hired help. An agent triggers on events: a new lead, an inbound ticket, a document landing in a folder. It runs the workflow without being asked.
